The Lemon Method
Bodies by Pilates in the Financial District will be the 5th studio I have opened in the past 10 years. This studio reflects the way I prefer to train and the way I train my clients. I call it “The Lemon Method”. I believe in all movement…all exercise…as long as you get results. I don’t believe there is one way to do things and one way doesn’t work for every body. “The Lemon Method” includes a 5-minute Meditation, 45-minute of Pilates segment, a 10-minute HIIT (hi intensity interval training) segment. This way of training has everything to do with hormones and how our bodies react to exercise in order to be lean; a true mind body connection that will change you, your metabolism and your body in all the right ways.
The Lemon Method allows you attain those primary Pilates benefits plus enable the body to reduce Cortisol and Increase Endorphins. The Lemon Method was developed to meet the needs of working professionals to assimilate all of an individuals needs into one comprehensive work out. In the end it is a system that will get your stress hormones under control through a relaxing Meditation, practice Pilates and then an exhilarating workout through a HIIT session thus feeling very peaceful, accomplished and set up for success for your healthy lifestyle.
Stress can make you fat and keep you fat. When we feel stress our bodies produce Cortisol, which has the unfortunate effect of storing fat in our midsections. According to Project-Meditation, the area of the brain that feels the greatest effects of meditation is associated with happiness. In addition, other research shows that meditation helps relax your mind and body, release built-up stress and promote feelings of peace and wellbeing. Meditation utilizes focused breathing and mind exercises that are aimed at reducing heart rate, respiration and other signs of stress before starting your Pilates session. Meditation will reduce cortisol, a chemical related to stress and overeating. By depleting Cortisol before our workout any calories consumed post workout will be better directed through out the body (burned as fat) and away from our mid sections.
Pilates, which is a refreshing mind body workout, has become synonymous w/ a strong core as well as lean and toned bodies. Regularly practicing this total-body workout can ease back pain, improve bone density and boost heart rate. These surprising benefits make the Lemon Method an effective cross-training workout and a plateau-busting change to your fitness routine to integrate into your daily habits. The Lemon Method allows you attain those primary Pilates benefits plus enable the body to reduce Cortisol and Increase Endorphins.
There is significant research and now a body of results that tell me 10 minutes of intense exercise is enough to achieve the increased metabolism we are looking for to lose body fat. If 10-minute workouts seem too good to be true, let me tell you, I was just as skeptical as you are right now. 10 minutes is the span of time we need to exasperate our selves in all the right ways to achieve an enhanced metabolism. In other words it’s really about intense effort and not duration. The harder you push for this short period the better you will look and feel for up to 48 hours afterwards.
These short workouts go against everything I know about burning calories and endurance exercise. However, over the past five years, I have coached thousands of women through my online and in studio Pilates programs that focus on shorter workouts and I have seen amazing results. The Lemon Method will allow you to achieve those excellent results as part of a group exercise program that takes into the latest science on body fat loss and utilizes the Pilates modality to keep your body tight and toned all over simultaneously.
